RASCAR: Hey Eldred! IMPORTANT!

Remember last weekend when I told you that you have to change the car
number for the server?

The reason is that we now have a #83 driver.  I took the liberty of
coming up with a car you can use for the server (you need a car file to
select).  I will upload it to racesimcentral after finishing this post,
but you will have to go into your server player and change it to use the
new car file (299_rascar.cup.car).

It would be nice if you did this before this weekend so that the new guy
doesn't have to use a 3xx number again this week.  I will make an
appropriate entry on the roster page so that nobody else will select car
#299.

Thank you for your prompt attention in this matter.

NOTE: I'm thinking of changing DeMONS to allow you to do this without
having to manually edit the player (but it won't be ready this weekend).
It seems like it could be useful for admins in the same situation.

Damn, I forgot about that...  I'll see if I can connect remotely and do it.  I
suspect that I'll need the CD, which is not in the machine at the moment...

I'm sure you can change the selected car by changing the player ini
file.

I was right - you can change the INI file without firing up the game
(just make sur eyou have the selected car before starting the sim -
grin).

Here's the INI file section that needs to change:

        [cup]
        SelectedCarFile=83_f_jones.cup.car              ; .car file name
        SelectedCarFileMulti=83_f_jones.cup.car         ; .car file name

Change the car to "299_rascar.cup.car", and you should be all set
(assuming you've already downloaded the car and put it in the cars
folder).

As I suspected, it asked me for the CD when I tried to run the game.  However,
I edited the player.ini file.  I just typed in the 299 car info in place of the
83 car info.  I don't have any way to test it though, so we won't know until
race time...
