I think you'll get a better price oonline somewhere. :)

Indeed you will...

Best Buy has a Ti4600 listed at $299.
http://www.bestbuy.com/detail.asp?e=11183715&m=488&cat=521&scat=522

Using Pricewatch I found this New York webshop that sell the Asus V8460
Ultra GF 4 Ti4600 for $199 + shipping...

http://www.shentech.com/asaggeti12dd.html

There's also http://www.directron.com/ti46002.html that offer free UPS
ground service shipping on the same card for $209

I got this very card and it's a good buy - even though I plan to switch to a
Radeon 9500 as soon as it arrives in stock. Why the "step back" ? - Well...
I'm not *totally* pleased with it's performance and I have the oppertunity
to do some back to back tests and then decide what to keep :o)

My system specs are abit different then Eldred's though...

I have them in stock :-), well, actually my supplier does, but that's

In Eldreds case a 4600 will cause his CPU to puke ***, without any
advanced features enabled to boot.  Wouldnt a better idea be to upgrade his
mobo/cpu and then throw in a 4200 all for not a heckuva lot more than the
4600 alone? (Im using $200 as the baseline)  If E is planning a CPU upgrade
soon then this is irrelevant.

Grrr... knew there was somewhere I had forgotten to check....
Oh well... it's on order from a different supplier now....  :o(

Btw, how much do you take for the 128mb 9500 non-pro cards? :-)

Oh Goy.. I should also let you know that I wont been needing a copy of N2003
this year...   I didn't want to miss the first RASCAR race and got Eldred to
pick-up a copy for me...  Sorry... I just couldn't wait :o)

OH - But, I'd still love to meet up for a cuppa with Matt though...

Close :)

The ULTRA has been stopped.  The normal FX is still supposed to be available
at retail.  Only certain people who pre-ordered Ultra's will get them.

And I have NO idea what that actually means performance wise, compared to
ATI yet.  I gotta go read up on what the hell is going on.

At least HardOCP is saying it's only the Ultra that's canned...

I think nVidia needs to do a press release or something...

I may do the same now.  ATI drivers or no ATI drivers.

Damn...  Well, if the FX Ultra ain't all that, then maybe it's for the best.

What's the 9700 Pro going for these days?

From Newegg around 330 bucks.
This is the first time I have ever spent that kind of bucks on a video card.
It is nice for now at least.

I was hoping it would have gone through a price reduction by now.  I was
really suprised to find a 5 month old card still going for the original sale
prices.

I'm getting 60fps with my Ti4400 and not much turned off (I don't like
Shadows anyway) so I'll hold off until the Retail price drops to $299 or the
next round of cards come out.

The GeForce FX cards that ARE going to hit the shelves still might be
interesting, but frankly not if they are going to cost $399 like it seems
they will.  I'd spend that on a 9700 Pro before I spent it on a neutered
GeForce FX 5800 card.

I was kinda hoping the FX would kick ass so I could afford a TI4600.
I usually wait until the latest and greatest comes out so I can get a
good deal on the card right below it.  From what I've read, I bet the
FX is not going to sell that well, and we probably wont see prices
dropping on GF4 cards.  Anybody in the market for a card should check
out Pricewatch.com,  9700 Pros are going for around $300 last check.

Even a 9700 pro is not going to be HUGELY faster than your ti4400.
Unless you turn on the fsaa and use very high resolutions...THEN the ATI
part clearly separates from the Nvidia.
