GPL newbie question

I've just gotten GPL and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on
what addons (graphics, sound, tracks, utilities) I should get and what sites
I should visit. Thanks.

Best thing to start off with is, tell everyone your pc system specs..
Then all has an idea how much your system can take via addons!

I think you wont have any problems..? I am not sure if there are
any clichs via the Voodoo5 but many use it here..
Here are a few:
http://129.100.29.19/gpl/default.htm
http://www.bonghead.org/racing/gplstart/index.html
http://www.ianparker1.plus.com/gpl/bapom/
http://www.bhmotorsports.com/
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/bruce.johnson/honda_ra_300.htm

http://simracing.com/alison/gpl/
http://home1.swipnet.se/~w-14357/GPL/index.htm
http://apollo.spaceports.com/~raceline/gpl/files.htm

http://members.fortunecity.com/nytehh/index.html
http://bar.gplonline.com/mbai.htm
http://scrapyard.9ug.com/
http://www.theuspits.com/index.shtml
Now I think these all work? If not someone will add the
correct Url & these will keep you busy for a awhile.<g>

Yep, Phils guide is a very good place to start.
If that does not answer all your questions, you might learn something from
the beginners guide at http://jc.simracing.dk

First and foremost update to the newest version.... then enable
ForceFeedback if you got a wheel supporting that.

The easiest and best way to make GPL look great, is installing the JF addon
package found at
http://jfcarsets.cjb.net/
That will update all cars to look their very best.

There is a ton of utilities... start working your way down Thom J.'s list ;)

Thanks for the information guys. Looks like this is going to be as download
intensive as EAW. :-)

You might want to spend some time working on your driving skills
_before_ you get too carried away with the add-ons and all the new
tracks that are out there. Without a fair bit of work developing you
skills to the point where you have some decent lap times on the
standard tracks, you may find yourself just spinning your wheels (pun
intended) by jumping from add-on to add-on, track to track, with no
progress and resulting sense of accomplishment.

I'm not saying that the add-ons are not worth while. Many of them are.
But like learning a musical instrument, you've got to spend some time
on the fundamentals. Once you have some speed and you get involved in
the on-line community, you'll discover the real thrill of this "game".
Then the add-ons serve to enhance the enjoyment.

Get the Papyrus updates to GPL. (version 1.2.0.1 or 1.2.0.2) Get a good
steering wheel and pedals. Get WinVroc. Kiss your social life goodbye.

YMMV

Due to my ISP "plus net" substantially increasing their prices I was forced
to stop hosting the BAPOM project, the latest URL I have is
http://www.trilon.com/bapom/
