Hello!

I managed to place 10th at Monza the other night (yeah, its nothing compared to
most people's time, but I walked around with a smile on my face that day), but
when the green flag drops, everyone peels out way before me!  I manage to get
back up to 10th place, but I was wondering what should I do to tweek my car to
have better starts?  Thanks!

The start has very much to do with the car you drive. Brabham, Ferrari
and Lotus are lightest so it is easier to get a good start. The BRM,
Eagle and Murasama are the slowest in the start.

Honda can get very good starts if you use the clutch and throttle to their
fullest, i've passed 5 cars round the outside into turn1 at the glen before,
now that ain't bad :o)

Tried the BRM recently, and yeah yer right, the Eagle isn't so bad (see
Honda comments).

It's all in how you start the car and the car you drive.  Try driving a light
car with good low end horsepower (The Lotus or the Brabham) and notice the
instant difference.  Then, hold the car on the grid with the clutch while in
first gear.  Rev the engine at about 1000 rpms less than redline and when the
green flag starts to drop (you should be trying to anticitpate the green flag!)
you let off the clutch and give almost full throttle.  Spin the tires just a
touch if you want at the very very start.  Then, back off the gas just enough
to stop the rear tires from smoking but make sure that you're as close as you
can be to spinning those tires without doing it!  Then, just settle into a line
and try to warm up your tires and watch yourself climb through the field.
