Anyway, I agree that these have got to be made up. I mean, those texture
maps must be 1Kx1K. And that motion-blur. Like, fer sure.

: Well, I certainly can't say for sure that those pics are fake or not, but
: if I recall the playstation graphics for this game in replay mode are
: incredible so who knows what it could look like with 3dfx graphics and the
: higher screen resolutions.
They are definitely fake. Firstly, whoever heard of running a
900x675 resolution on Voodoo 1 or 2? Another giveaway is the black
outlines used around the headlights of the cars in some pictures. Not
only are the curves improbably detailed, but they are so detailed that the
faker's mistakes become obvious. For example, check out the hoodline of
the Honda in GRANDTUR.JPG. Plus, there are the odd "halos" around color
borders indicating smoothing or blending, the speed blur, the redrawn and
consequently mis-spaced lettering, et cetera. I'm guessing these
"previews" are touched-up, pre-rendered publicity stills (that have
graced any number of Playstation magazine covers).
However, wouldn't it be great if I were wrong?

Nigel Mansell RIP!
There are several things worth consider. First is the resolution. The
screen shot got resolution of 900x675 and one is at 900x647. So strange.
Second is the motion blur effect in a picture... It is just not possible.
Third is the resolution of textures. It cannot be so crisp. 3Dfx only
supports texture resolution up to 256x256 pixels. And 3Dfx got limited
texture memory. It would better say the screen shot are from AGP D3D board
with high resolution texture on main memory.
Lastly, today's 3D card will never simulate the 'focus effect'. Some
pictures try to make the front car in focus and blur the cars at the back.
The guy maybe good at making fake photos. But these screen shot are just
too fake to make people believe.
Worth noting that the guy have done a good job on the famous 'grain'
effect of 3Dfx boards.(i.e. something like dither pattern in the picture)
In conclusion: fake screen shot.

I got those screenshots from a 3Dfx site that claimed they were real....they
do look really nice though...
but I had a question...
Remember those old racing game that took really picture and try to blend
them in as the background....it looked real cheesy cuz they try to make it
look real........is it possible to take those same backgrounds and put the
non focus effect on them....I think that would make a cool effect like in
those screenshots....
Anyone know what im getting at?
