GRAN TURISMO: PC port !!!!!! Yes Yes Yes !!!!!

by ymenar » Tue, 19 May 1998 04:00:00

I was reading a PC *** magazine today (don't remember witch one, sorry
but I think it was CGN).

There was a little tidbit about a guy who talked with the Japanese creator
of GranTurismo. He said that they were working on a PC port of this game,
yes indeed !

It may be only a rumor. but there is no smoke without fire. Let's all hope.
And write to Sony also.

Ok, I am somehow... "pro-Papyrus", I think they are the God of SimRacing,
but hey with a good PC port, a***pit and realistic damage, this could be
one of the finest racing game ever (with GP-Legends).

I think at least NextGen had implied this.

I think there is a good possibility for a patch, because 'Sony' has
already ported some games to PC, namely Jet Moto and Twisted Metal 2.

The strongest point for it is that there is not yet another simulator
for PC (or consoles for that matter), where they simulate 500+ hp
racing cars on circuit tracks. It is a different kind of racing
simulation from the other existing games, that's its selling point.
I think it would be a huge success in the PC too.

I quite literally haven't touched my PC since Gran Turismo came out.  I don't
even remember what I was previously playing.  If it comes out for PC, I'll buy
that too, but for now it's so damn engrossing I'm on the PSX every night.
Here's hoping for a 3dfx version with a hood or***pit view and a damage
model.

Excellent point!!!  Actually, I'm at the office now.  All the games are on the
home PC --- which remains untouched.  Why didn't I see this coming?!?  LOL!

The only reason that there is no***pit view is that because of the
limitations of the Playstation they couldn't have put one in without
sacraficing frame rate.  Also I believe no damage model was put in
because they would have to model damage forr166 cars which would just
take up too much space.

Also I believe no damage model was put in

I think it is because the manufacturers did not want to see their cars
damaged in the game so I would not expect to see damage in any PC
conversion.
