Bleem: Gran Turismo and the PC?

by David Mast » Sun, 01 Aug 1999 04:00:00

I read the previous thread on Bleem, but I don't recall info on whether
dual-axis is supported, or on whether certain controllers were supported.  I
have Gran Turismo and a PSX, but I've read that it looks even better, and at
high res, on a PC with Bleem.  That isn't enough to get me to spring for
Bleem.  But if I can use my dual-axis CH Pro Pedals (not single axis!) and my
CH Combatstick for control (sorry, I prefer it to the wheels I've tried!),
what's another $29?  I tried the demo, but it wasn't obvious to me how to get
the pedals to work.

So, can anyone confirm that GT and Bleem work well with a dual-axis system?
And just how much better it might look with a Voodoo Banshee handling the
graphics in D3D on a Celeron 300A/450 rather than playing on a PSX?

to tell you this but I find most PSX games unplayable because they are
sooooo slow or I have to turn too many graphics off. You need a much
beefier PC! I've tried it with Test Drive 5, Pandemonium, Wipeout, Final
Fantasy and TOCA2.
I never bothered trying to configure my controller, just binned the
whole idea :(

I agree with Mike, I have a AMD K6 333mhz computer
with a PCI Voodoo Banshee card and the newest
version of Bleem (v1.4) and almost none of my
games (including GT) are playable under D3D (most
run about 1/2 speed), but the games work great
with software rendering (although they look
terrible compared to playing on a TV).

Sorry, I can't help with your controller question.
I suggest you wait until Bleem becomes as good or
better than the PSX before purchasing it for
any great *** experience, but based on the way
that they have been improving it (They have been
upgrading their product on average about twice a
month since it's first release) that shouldn't be
to long.

I've not got GT to work at all with my PC steering wheel. Best bet is to
download the demo and try it yourself.

with great speed, and great graphics. U only have to use som time to adjust
the setting for the game. Specially the sound seems to take a enormous hit
on performace, so i would advise you to turn the sound to mono. But then the
game should run great.

It seems like bleem dont support to many steering devices, i could not get
my logitech wingman formula steering wheel to work..so i guess i have to use
the keyboard, witch kinda suxx

I only can confirm that GT works with bleem....i dont think it will work
with dual-axis system. The graphics looks great compared to the playstation
version

snip
I wan't able to get Bleem demo to work with my Monster Fusion. It said the DirectX
drivers weren't supported. When I tried it anyway, I got a scrambled pic with each
polygon line extending all over the screen.

I have checked for latest version of drivers.

I will just wait for PC version to come out.
