F12K MS FF Wheel. (Game kicks me out)

by Ian » Sat, 15 Apr 2000 04:00:00

I read a while ago ( I think it was Iain Mackenzie) who claimed to be having
probs with being kicked out of the game with FF enabled.

I have started to use it and found the same problem.

Any cures welcome.

BTW IMO Since I got my Geforce it turned this into a great game (good FPS is
essential)

Several people had the problem, and it was down to the new Guillemot v1.23
drivers. If you replace them with the ones that come on the CD that comes
with the wheel, then the problem goes away.
However, I note that you say you have a MS wheel - in that case, I can't
help! Sorry.

I have the same problem with my Force RS wheel. The funny thing is, I'm
sometimes able to play w/FF on without getting kicked to the desktop.
(I have not been able to figure out why yet)

With that said, FF takes alot of cpu cycles and doesn't add a whole lot
to F12k. I'm fine with it off. I find the wheel feels alot heavier w/FF
off. I prefer it this way.

The wheels may be heavier with no FF, but a lot of the feel for track
disappears, e.g. kerbs, rumble strips, grass, lifting off lightness, etc.
FF definitely adds to the experience.

F12K MS FF Wheel. (Game kicks me out)

Weird.  I have F12K, MSFF wheel (original gameport version) - and F12K runs
fine with or without FF enabled.

The forces are somewhat nonexistant other than curbing, but the game hasn't
crashed on me at all when using them.  Not sure what the problem could be,
as the MSFF doesn't have all that much you can configure.  Are you using the
3.02 drivers?

Have you felt anything with Force RS in F12k? I can't feel anything at all
even I have hit the wall in 200mph!
Anyone know any solution to it and where to set the force in the game?

In the controller options, tick the box that says 'force feedback'!!
