Movie Grand Prix footage on DVD

Hi,

This weekend I viewed the movie Ronin on DVD-video and when the end
credits came I noticed it was directed by John Frankenheimer. I thought
"HEY, I know that name!". And then, when I selected 'Filming in the fast
lane' from the menu there was some behind the scenes footage of Grand
Prix. It wasn't long, but still a very pleasant surprise :-) The car
chase scenes of Ronin are pretty hot too. I can recommend this movie,
especially if you are a GPL fan and have a DVD player.

Cheers,
Johan.

Be *sure* to watch Ronin with the director commentary on some
time. Frankenheimer speaks at great length about the car scenes,
and refers back to Grand Prix several times. The chief stunt
driver on Ronin was an F1 driver I believe (I have a mind like a
seive when it comes to names), and Frakenheimer spoke highly of
him. The four wheel drift that guy laid down in that movie is
nothing short of awesome. I fell in love with the movie for the
car chases, and love it more every time I watch it. Some folks
say the chases scenes in Bullit were great - they suck compared
to Ronin. The best car action on film. Period.

Perhaps I will have to rent it again to confirm my opinion. :)
But I seem to recall fotage being *repeated* during the same
chase sceen to fill it out and make it last longer. That brings
it down SEVERAL notches in my book.
