Perfect Grand Prix (Grand Prix 1996 update) released?!

by Elliot van den Bo » Sun, 22 Dec 1996 04:00:00

Reading the january issue of the dutch magazine "Formule 1" I was
pleasantly surprised.
This magazine has a section called The 'Formule 1-shop'. Here you can
order all kind of F1-goodies by mail.

AND... There was a listing of 'Perfect Grand Prix'.
The description of this item said: 'Grand Prix 2 Update'. Contains the
new drivers and 1996 circuits.
The price was set to: F 34.95 (dutch guilders)

I have ordered it, so no I have to wait till the postman rings twi...
uh once. :-)
I hope they have it in stock and that it was not listed premature.

Greetinx, Elliot

Perfect Grand Prix (Grand Prix 1996 update) released?!

About Perfect Grand Prix:

Did some additonal research.
It seems to be a fake. It is not an official update from Microprose.
;-(

Also there are no tracks included as the add implies.

So don't oder this one. I canceled my order as well.

Will have to wait for the real thing.

New tracks? Odd maybe someone found out how to build new tracks. I'm
sure Microprose wouldn't release anything we actually wanted for GP2.

Perfect Grand Prix (Grand Prix 1996 update) released?!

by dhen.. » Wed, 25 Dec 1996 04:00:00

Hi Elliot.  I'm not sure about across the pond, but here in the US, mail
order advertisers often start taking orders for games based on the initial
release date.  In other words, we had adds in magazines for F1gp2 in the
early spring of '95.  Nice little pictures month after month of the "NEW"
F1gp2.   Good luck, from what I've heard, the soonest we can expect the
update is January(so based on Crammond conversion scale for release
dates....1998!)

GRRRR wont you guys listen!!
Perfect grand prix is a collection of 3rd party addons all collected from
the web, hell it even claims a video accelerator which just turns out to be
the infamous S3 chipset thingy. The 1996 update "probably" comes from
pieters site, hell these people make me mad.
This product should be boycotted!!!!
Regards Paul...
