About 3 feet up, 1 foot in front of the monitor and just under arm's length
in front of the chair.

I usually put the pedals on the floor under the desk.

Which sim?

Ha...Me too.

If it's a MS Sidewinder FF wheel and your playing  N2003,  I  use 80%
linearity at most tracks.  100% at Daytona and Dega.    Under Force Feedback
Strength  75% to 100%.  Just whatever feels right to you.   Latency and
Dampening, I've got each on 30.  Be sure go in the Sidewinder software and
create a "Profile" so you can use the paddles for shifting  and the buttons
for autochat. I've got the Dead Zone "small" and the pedal range of motion
at "Max". Under Pedals click on "Separate" so the brake and gas pedals will
be on separate axis.
