MS wheel, DX7 and N3

I recently bought the new MS Precision racing wheel and was very happy with
its performance in N3.  Then I decided to install DX7.  Since then the MS
wheel will not work in N3 no matter what I do.  I have tried different
schemes, no schemes, etc.......nothing seems to work.  My friends Logitech
wheel (USB-Yellow wheel) still works fine with DX7 and N3.

Since DX7 the MS wheel acts very strange with other games, but most
importantly not at all with N3.  Does anyone have any suggestions or similar
experiences?

I really like the MS wheel and I don't want to get the Logitech wheel
because it makes some weird spring sounds in the wheel when it turns the
first few times.  I also do not want a force-feedback wheel (with my PII-400
I need all the fps I can get).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
