3d card confusion???

by Michael St.Julie » Sun, 08 Jun 1997 04:00:00

Hi,

I have an ATI 3dXpression(Rage II chip).  I wanted to try to understand
this 3dcard thing.

I see that there is a 3d version of  Indycar2 for the Rendition cards.
Would I be able to play this???  If I could would I be able to get any 3d
effects at all???  Or would it be just like playing the regular version I
have at home???

Thanx for your help.

I dont know what chip is included with the ATI 3dx. (Sounds like 3dfx ????)
Your documentation MUST say "Rendition Verite chip" in order for you to use
the icr2 patch

Ohh sure. If you by 3D effects mean alpha blending, and HW lightsourcing,
you will definetily get some effects.

No way, far from that, and icr2 is by far not the best example of good 3D
acceleration. Look at some newer games ;-)

No, it requires a card with a Rendition Vrit chip to run.

 effects at all???

See above.

Without a Rendition card, you could only run the regular version.

No. It only works if you have a rendition card. No support for any card at
all.
