Like a Swiss watch. IndyCar is the most stable modem game I have ever
used. We play literally for hours with a .13 connect and the screen
refresh is almost indiscernable from playing standalone.

First you'll have to enlighten me with a little more detail re your
modem and IndyCar configs etc.

As it doesn't sound like a comms problem per se, as IndyCar will link
and play even if you haven't disabled error correction/compression
etc, possibly one of you has modified the cars # 1 and 2 in the car
sets???,  which can create link problems.

More info and I'll try to assist.

HELP!!Indycar over modem

Greetings all!!

Can anybody tell me if Indycar ver1.04
works over the modem.
A chap and myself are having great difficulties
playing Indycar over the modem. We get "connected"
but usually nothing happens after this.
Can anybody enlighten me as to what is going on?

Thanks in advance,

Jay

Well I'm using an Australian made Maestro Executive Series 14.4k modem
and he's using a Dynalink fax\modem card(or something along those lines).
Both are Hayes compatible and we've tried all sorts of init strings,
all of them attempting to turn off error correction, data compression
& setting the speed to 9600, in a myriad of different ways. We also went
thru the game settings eg.race distance, car damage etc, and made them
the same.

Thanks for this last tip. I'll have to check it out.

All this is unnecesary. The game plays as per the answerer's settings. Have
you tried just leaving the comms settings as they are (ie. ATZ^M or
whatever)?

What happens when you try to connect, ie. are you getting a connection
which then breaks down, or are you getting a 'can't initialise modem'
message or not dialing, or what?
