GP2 modem-modem play help!

I tried to play GP2 via modem with a friend today, but I got only
"data mismatch" errors!! Any help on that??

I tried then to do a practice lap and could see his car in the box,
but when I got out of the box, HE was moving with me in my car, so he
had the same view as I had instead of sitting in HIS car.

Please some help on modem play!
