Carmageddon Modem play & modem problems in general.

by Rick Hunt » Mon, 11 Aug 1997 04:00:00

Hi there all,

I've just got Carmageddon & I've been mucking around with it. I tried the New
Network Game 'button' and got this message -

"Sorry network play is unavailable, check drivers, cabling etc."

What the hell....??  What does this mean? What can I do? Please don't tell me to
go read the manual, coz this is really a half hearted attempt on my part.

I got my new computer at the beginning of this year from Gateway - and they seem
to have used a weird setup for all the IRQ's etc [This is my first computer with
a modem] And every damn game I've tried (Commanche, Werewolf, F15, NFSSE, ICR1,
Nascar2, Doom, Hexen...) don't like it's damn setup....It's really been a big
disappointment - basically any new game I get I just take a quick look to see if
I can connect other wise I just forget the modem play & play by myself :-(.

Is there any FAQ out there - somewhere on how to configure a system for modem
play? I thought I read somewhere that if you are playing a game through Win95,
it doesn't matter about what config you use, coz Win95 autodetects it.....but
does this work in games that use a Dos-box?

Well, can somebody, anybody, give me any helpful advice?

tia
