Indycar - NULL Modem?

by Jim Ser » Mon, 09 May 1994 13:13:15

Well, has anyone gotton Indycar to "connect" via NULL modem connection?
I just installed the patch on my machine and my roomates and connected
then via a NULL modem cable. They are both on COM 2 ( I had to switch
my modem to COMM 4 ), and everything works OK, because we just spent
8 hours straight on DOOM and no problems. Well, I went into the 2-Player
menu and changed the settings on both to DIRECT CONNECT. I noticed that
if I tried to change the COM on mine that the only options are COM 1,2&3.
WHAT??? They must be using MSDOS to search for the COM ports because
I have COM 1, 2 and 4 activated, but MSD says I only have COM 1,2&3 hence
Indycar says that too! Well, anyway, I selected DIAL and hit ENTER and then
my roomate selected ANSWER and hit RETURN and a phone DID show up on
his screen but nothing on mine. They just sat there for about 5 minutes.
I may not be an engineer, but I nkow that if the computers sit there
with no HD action or no change on screen that the connect is not yet
complete and never will be. Anyways, I have tried every option and nothing
Anyone have some suggestions?

Jim

Try changing your COM Port to COM 3. MS-DOS somehow is not
recognizing a COM 4, or see if COM 4 is on your BIOS.
