Isn't there a way to keep the cars from dissapearing.
when they get a certain amount ahead of you.

Yes, make them a "team mate" in the .plr file and they'll slow down and even
let you pass. ;0)

Yea, there are two methods to fix this. I can only remember this one though.
Open the "default.cfg" file in the save folder. Under the "LocalCam=Cockpit"
heading change LODMultiplier to LODMultiplier=(2.000000).
