Force RS Wheel

Force RS Wheel

by Michael Barlo » Sat, 27 Oct 2001 07:23:45

Yesterday when I first plugged the wheel in and booted the computer for
the first time that day..  When I start N4 and/or RT, My wheel turns to the
right automatically then stays there,  Also there is no steering control in
the Sims.  All forces work in the RS calibration screen and the gas and
brake pedal registers but the wheel doesn't.

I bought this wheel early this summer and used it for about an hour
before setting it back in the box.  All this time I've been using my
homebuilt system and now I'm out of pots, so I had to bring the RS wheel
back out (another words it's basically brand new).  Tuesday the wheel worked
perfectly but yesterday it didn't and as far as I can think there were no
changes to the wheel, calibration, or the computer system.  anyone have any
idea's?

btw: it's hooked up via USB port if that makes a difference.

Here's what I do. Start PC, clamp wheel to desk, plug in pedals and usb, plug in
power last.  Rotate wheel lock to lock a few times (doesn't do it on its own)
and fully press pedals a few times.  Go racing.

The only difference between between the 2 days may be the "calibration" by
turning the wheel fully in windows before starting the game. You should also be
able to check the wheel operation in the control panel->game controllers. Also I
have the RS as ID#1 and my pedals on the gameport as ID#2.

FF in RT certainly adds to the experience. :-)
