This is intended primarily for actual users of this wheel, but anyone is free
to offer comments. Is there any reason why someone should not buy this wheel
for use with GPL, taking into account the price and quality of the wheel? I've
seen a number of reviews (www.reviewfinder.com) about this wheel. The consensus
is that there are a lot of positive things about it, especialy the USB feature
which has recently become available. What do you think?

Nope, good wheel.  I don't think you can go wrong with the Act, Logitech or
Microsoft wheels...all but the last have USB too.

.......and in terms of dos-based performance?  Do the popular wheels work
with all their features in games like GP2?

Good luck. :)  I think some people have mentioned that they have gotten
certain games to work with GP2, etc. but just as normal wheel/pedal combos.
Might want to do a search through DejaNews on the group.

Act Labs Force RS Wheel/GPL

I bought my Force RS and GPL this past May, so consider me a bit of a
GPL newbie, but I am quite happy with both. I'm not experiencing the
slowdown problems that others are with the 1.1 patch, so I'm finding
the FF a great help in maintaining control of the car. The wheel did
make an annoying "chirping" noise the first couple of weeks which I
heard isn't abnormal, but it's gone now. Overall I find the steering
to be precise. The paddle shifters on mine appear flimsy, but my 3
year old daughter has banged on them a couple of times (I was
momentarily distracted), but they held up, so I guess they're sturdier
than I thought. The pedal base doesn't slip, but the pedals themselves
seem a little sticky at times which affects the absolute precision GPL
seems to need. Some have said a little grease would solve the problem
(haven't tried myself yet), so if you don't mind that small bit of
maintenance you're looking at a great wheel.

I wonder if there's a 1.2 patch, think Papy'll add RS Shifter support?
ActLabs says it's not hard to code.

Hi!
I am looking for info on how to get my Force RS (serial) to work with GP2. The game
seems to except the Logitech and MS FF-wheels but not my wheel (so far). So if anyone
has a solution I would be thrilled.

Cheers
/Roger
