More problems with Act Labs Force RS wheel!!

by David Bri » Sun, 08 Aug 1999 04:00:00

I had recently posted a message here regarding the strange notchy
feeling in the Act Labs Force RS wheel.  Well, I suppose I have
finally gotten used to the feel of the wheels (although the pedals
still suck!), but now have an even greater problem.
When racing in SCGT, nearly every time I spin out, the wheel becomes
out of whack and looses its calibration; it doesn't reset itself.
Have you ever tried driving with your wheels out of alignment?  It's
nearly impossible.  I don't know how many times I've lost races
because the wheel would not reset.  I just got through racing Limerock
in my Saleen, second place with less than seven minutes to go, and of
course a slower driver I was trying to lap knocked me right off the
track (gee, that's never happened).  I spun, the wheel lost its
calibration, and I lost the race.
One trick I have tried with mixed success is to make a quick pit stop,
and when the computer takes over, kill the power to the wheel from the
power strip (there is no on/off switch, right?) and quickly reset it.
Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't.  Either way, this is no
solution.
Is anyone else having this problem?  Is it the game or the wheel?  I
just don't think ff is ready for prime time.

Thanks,

David
Is there gas in the car?
Yes, there's gas in the car.

You have car damage. Your car is pulling to the side.

Yes, I get this with my TM Force GT, the only solution I've come up with is
to pause the game and move the wheel fully left and right a few times, that
seems to clear it.

Those back markers are a real pain!

Andi.
