F1C braking problem

Hey guys,
What's with the front wheels locking up big time everytime I hit
the brakes in F1C. Never had this problem in F12002 Anybody have an
explanation ? Thanks StP

At 250kph the ammount of downforce on the car offers so much grip - it's
nearly IMPOSSIBLE to lock brakes.

Locking brakes should only really kick in at 200 - 150kph and below
(depending on circuit)

Why do you think MS gets $18 mil a year to drive the damn things?

$18 mil? I think he gets that just for the first 3 fly away races?

Unless you're Michael Schumacher at Silverstone 99.

When he had brake failure and locked the rears, because no braking effort
was going to the front wheels.

Oh yeah, I wasn't saying it was a driver error or anything, but it
shows that it is at least physically possible for the brakes to be
locked in an F1 car at high speed.  I'd imagine you'd have to be daft
(or Gilles Villeneuve, who was just crazy) to do it normally.

If someone were to make force feedback pedals where the brake pedal
actually provided realistic resistance, I think we'd find the brake
locking models in F1C and the Papy sims to be pretty damn good, as
you'd actually be pressing very hard by the time you came close to
locking them up.

Ah, I understand. It is funny though how some people in this newsgroup think
that aerodynamic downforce is some kind of magical infinite force at high
speed, isn't it?

At the approximate top speed of a Formula One car on most tracks
(180-200mph), the downforce generated by the wings amounts to roughly two
times the weight of the car. The total mass of the car has to be above 600kg
(605kg during qualifying), so at top speed, the apparent mass of the car is
1800kg, or just under 2 tons. Not as much as most people think. Slam on
those CI brakes (I mean, *really* stand on them) and the wheels will lock.

That would be cool, but right now I'd settle for any old pressure-sensitive
brake pedal down there, rather than travel-sensitive.
