F1C - brakes overheating

by Kasper Kowalsk » Sun, 12 Oct 2003 00:57:52

Even on short races of the '03 Hockenheim track (20 laps, no stops), I can't
get my brakes to last the distance (brake duct set at 5). My pit guy isn't
telling me they're getting over-temperature, though I expect that is the
problem. I do like to use the brakes/throttle together to control the car's
balance...  short of having the maximum size ducts, is there anything I can
do?

I raced f1 2002 ( I have F1C also) in an offline league and we came across
this problem a lot, it seemed it just came down to different driving styles
and how much abuse the brakes took. I never had a problem myself , even with
the duct set at 1 but there were many guys having failures regularly (all
races were 100%). Maybe you could play with the brake balance if you haven`t
tried that to try and help a little but I am guessing that it is your
driving style that is causing the problem.

Hope you find a solution.

all the best,

Adrian.

   Look at the difficulty options.  One of the sliders is for Damage;
Timescaled vs normal vs none.  The default is Timescaled which compresses a
full lenght race of say...80 laps  into whatever percentage of laps you are
running.
If you have Timescaled selected, change it to normal and see if the
condition disappears<sp?>

Thanks. Did the trick. Won my first German GP against AI (from last place,
20laps)... of course, AI was only set on 95%. Just need to get more
comfortable with the stadium section, and then I'll bump up the AI strength.
