DirectX 8.0a - good news!

Somebody already wrote that DX 8.0a works well with racing sims.
I was anyhow worried, because uninstalling seems not to be easy.
But good news! At least in my system, AMD 1.1GHz, 256 RAM, GF2 GTS,
DirectX 8.0a seems to work well. The following sims/games worked
well and seemed to be at least as fluent as they were with 7.0a:
GPL, N4, F1CS2000, GP3, F1RC, SCGT, Viper Racing and Toca2.

PS I also updated to IE 5.5 with some tools(?), and now F1CS200,
GP3 and SCGT asked promise to go to the Internet - I use a
firewall. I did not let them, but does anyone know, what those
three might have had in mind?

Probably an auto-update to look for patches.  Or at least they
*say* that's what they're doing.....  <cue paranoia-inducing music>

nothing to be frightened of, and no limit, any fool could get into
a motor car and racing would not exist as a sport." -- Jim Clark

Good to know Microsoft didn't leave you guys with "marginal" systems out in
the cold ;)

To be honest I think most people have been using DX8a without problems since
it came out.  There were controller problems with 8, but I think 8a has
proved pretty reliable.

Some MP games do that.
