Rendition 1000, DirectX 7.0a and GPL

Hello all,

I recently picked up a used Creative Rendition 1000 card, but so far
I've been unable to get it working. The machine I'm trying it in has
DirectX 7.0a installed and dxdiag won't recognize it as being a Direct3D
card, and GPL won't run in Rendition mode.

Now, I was reading here in RAS about some other video card that simply
didn't have DirectX 7 drivers and therefore would not run with DirectX
7. Is this the situation I'm in, or have I simply got a lemon?

Input appreciated.

Bingo!  The BEST USE for a First Gen Rendition card is in an
OLDER system.  Go to a throwaway dealer and pickup a box and a
P166 cpu or P200mmx and about 32 megs of edo ram.  I would guess
you could find used parts for less than the cost of a new vidcard.
Put your CL 1000 in there and boot up the rendition version of
ICR2.  That or EF2k are about the ONLY thing that will work well
with that...and about Dx3 if you can find it.

Thanks, Dave. I thought it might be the case, but I appreciate verification
before blanking the drive and starting over. The box in question is a P166
w/64 Meg EDO. Now to see what Rendition CART really looks like...8^).
