The following post is not a joke BTW.
I've been strongly considering buying a Pentium computer for some while,
but one thing that's turned me off is not being able to truly measure
performance, often the specs are misleading.
From what I've read on this newsgroup, GP2 not only taxes the capabilities
of any machine, but also calculates expected performance (suggested
frame rates and graphic detail).
Questions follow:
(a) Could a copy of GPII therefore be a good benchmark for computer
performance? E.g. are the suggestions accurate, and are the performance
requirements of GP2 fairly general?
(b) Can it be run directly from the CD-ROM without installation? (i.e. can
you walk into a shop with the CD-ROM and try it out).
(c) Is it reasonably quick to get to the suggested graphic detail and
frame-rate pages?
Thanks in anticipation,
Ross-c
