F12001 crashes to desktop?

by Don Burnett » Tue, 27 Nov 2001 08:43:17

I am having a problem with the game crashing to desktop in the middle of a
race. Seems to happen every 2-3 races or so.
No warning, just instant crash to desktop. Seems like it is happening more
since applying the patch. When I installed the patch, I had done a complete
clean install of F12001.
I am running a GeForce2 MX with Nvidia 21.83 drivers.
Anyone else having this problem?

Yes, but less often after applying the patch.

F12001 crashes to desktop?

Yeah, I've noticed that too.  But only since I installed the FF patch and the
NoCD patch.  Hard to tell which (if either) is causing it.  It happens during a
race, but hasn't happened (yet) during practice.  I have a Voodoo5, so it's not
just limited to your GeForce card.

Other than this annoying little habit, I think the patch is great!

Any ideas out there?

Bert

I am not using a no cd patch, the only patch I have installed is the F2001
update patch .
And I am not running a FF wheel.

F12001 crashes to desktop?

My system has not crashed during the game, but it crashes to the
desktop whenever I try to load a file for replay. Re-starting the
game, and replay works fine, very weird problem. I think there are
still nemerous bugs with the graphics engine and its interactions with
different nvidia drivers, DirectX, etc. It would take sometime to sort
eveything out.

running 12.41 with GF2 MX400.

Well, all I know is it truly sucks to be 2/3rds of the way through a race,
doing good, and have this happen :(.
I will be upgrading my puter to a Athlon XP1600, EPoX 8kha+ mb, 512 mb DDR
ram, and GeForce3 card in about a month. It will be interesting to see if I
still get these ctd's on the new system, hopefully not.

Are you trying to load pre-patch replays?  sometimes patches create
problems trying to load up stuff that was created before the patch...Since I
don't have F1 2001  I can't say for sure..
