I would like to suggest road courses for next weekend. I just got my work
schedule and I'll be working next Saturday and I SUCK on the road courses. Damn
near a menace to racing on one. Good luck to all. Look forward to next time.

Ah, but you forget - the races chosen are picked because of MY schedule...<g>
We already did the road courses, but I might run 'em again.  I can't make the
race either. :-)  I need to see what tracks are left...

Correction:
We've done *some* of the road courses!

I cannot see any reason why we shouldnt be able to race any of the converted
tracks..

Silverstone or Oring should be good....

I'd like to second that. Silverstone, Oring, Cleveland and St. Jovite are
great tracks, each of them in its own way.

True true. I bow to your power <g>

I am pretty much computer illerate. I have downloaded the converter but have no
idea what to do with it. I think I got a track called Cleveland as well. I have
all previous Papy discs. Is there a primer anywhere on how to use the utility?

Oh man, if you guys wanna race at tracks like that (I have no
converted tracks...yet) can I suggest it's race 2.  I'm hoping to make
this Saturday's race and I'd rather it was a little less challenging
for my first time out - plus I can only make race 1...

I can just about manage WG, but can not get Sears Point at all.  I
s'pose that's moot as you've already raced these tracks, yes?

When is a weekend's track usually determined?  I'd like to log as much
time as possible pre-race, and that can be difficult with family
commitments.  Wednesday evenings are usually my best chance...

BTW, where's the source of these converted tracks?

Cheers,

Mark

Hi Dixieman,

Eldred has meanwhile decided against RC's in the near future, but as for the
converter, there's a readme in the archive that explains the use.

Basically, the easiest is if you have the source sim installed, unzip the
converter to a directory of your choice, start it, point it to the locations
of source and target sim using the two buttons the converter provides for
this, select a track from the list that should appear, and then click on
'convert'. You can also convert from other sims or from CD in some cases I
believe, but I won't talk about that - why make things more complicated than
necessary. For me ;-)

That about covers it I think, one would almost think you've done it
before...:-)

Heh - people haven't even had time to practice the *offical* tracks yet.  You
want to ADD to that...???<g>

I think the worst that has happened to far was that John Simmons found out
that the converter doesn't have the proper Nascar contingency decals on the
top right of the welcome window, and that the window background doesn't
comply with generally agreed Nascar painting rules. Even worse, the version
number was missing in the proper places - left, right, top and rear right

He then decided that any Nascar related software that doesn't have the
contingency decals or a proper paintjob for a Nascar (or worse, is lacking
both) is not worth sitting on his HD, and in an attempt to delete it
sufficiently radically to make a clear statement about Nascar related
software without proper Nascar looks, he deleted his RASCAR roster page.

Which in the end forced him to re-do the whole thing, which again in the end
wasn't all bad as the new page is nicer than the previous one.

Well, such things happen, so try to remain cool and unemotional when doing
the conversion, do not go by looks but by results, and make a backup of your
operating system before starting the converter ;-)

(do I need to mention that all of the above is a  <;-) ;-) tongue in cheek >
