We were supposed to be making up the missed Daytona race this weekend since
it's the off week. California is the following weekend. John mentioned
somewhere here at r.a.s. in the past few days we were running Daytona this
weekend as well.

Right, the web site says one thing and I have seen posts here saying
another, hence, my confusion.

Ummm, the schedule has the two dates reversed.  It's entirely my
fault.  The race this weekend will be the Daytona make-up race.

Eldred, are you watching?

The practice server has been corrected to run Daytona.

It would be great if we could turn the damage down to moderate or even off.

I'd love to run just one RASCAR SS race where I don't get wrecked from some
dumb incident. I hate to criticize ouir group, but we've flat out stunk at
the SS races so far and I didn't see any trend towards things getting better
at Talladega. Same dumb mistakes were made in technique and strategy as in
the first SS race we ran last year.

I'd rather there be a large field for the entire race then a small field
half way through with a few unfortunates being constantly lapped through no
fault of their own, and eventually quitting in disgust.

What's the difference between 'moderate' and 'realistic'?  I'm at work now, so
I don't have the manual handy...

It says in the manual that your car will sustain minimal damage during hard
collisions, and to remember that regardless of whatever damage setting you
choose, it only applies to collision damage and that you can still blow an
engine or wear your tires due to abuse.

I'd prefer we use moderate, or turn it off so so many cars aren't taken out
of the race due to aero damage from silly mistakes. At least for one race.

I have mixed feelings on this, but I lean toward agreeing.  If for no other
reason than the hope of getting the stoopid random-damage thing out of the
way.
