Agreed.  NASCAR has never done much for me but is certainly more complicated
than it looks.  CART and F1 have been exciting at times but not lately.

I just started watching MotoGP this year and I have to say they have some of
the most exciting racing I have ever seen.  Last year I happened to catch
Nicki Hayden pull off some exciting wins at the end of the American
Superbike season and caught some of the drama of Honda picking him over
Collin Edwards for the MotoGP ride.  So, I thought I would see how he does
on the MotoGP circuit this year and I have been hooked since.  Hayden is
promising, but Valentino Rossi is looking like a rare and exciting talent on
par with M. Schumacher.  There is plenty of other talent and personality in
the series and these guys are incredibly fast.  The passing is fairly
frequent and exciting, especially since Rossi usually does not start as well
as some of the others.  The final bonus for me is that there is no pitting.
I don't care for fuel strategy as it can ruin an otherwise brilliantly
driven race for the driver.

Goin' fishin', were you?

Now, I have to stick up for my sport <g>

If you've ever been to a F1 race and actually stood by the track and
witnessed an overtaking move in the flesh, NASCAR suddenly looks *extremely*
tame. In fact, there are some corners that you simply must watch a F1 car go
round in your lifetime:

Ferradura
Piratella
Rindt Kurve
Piscine x
RTL Kurve x
Copse x, Becketts Complex, Stowe, Bridge x
Nurburgring x, Imola x
130R x

and of course, the legendary, but sadly departed Eau Rouge, Pouhon and
Blanchimont.

The 'x's mean "Holy sh*t, that's fast". You never get the feel for it on TV.
If I was to recommend one, go to Monaco, and try and get a seat opposite the
piscine (next year with the reclaimed land there will be much more room
there, I'm led to believe). Watch the cars coming out of Tabac and entering
piscine and if you're stood there on the outside, you will actually ***
yourself. No exaggeration. Especially if it's JV coming at you <g>

Sims rarely seem to capture it either, and it's one thing I think NetKar
does very well. The F3000 experience is very fast indeed.
