It was only a matter of time before someone threw his name out there.  Like
NASCAR would be any different today..

You forgot that sometimes there is also a pass on the last lap when one
driver pulls to the side to let his teammate win due to team orders

I agree... insomniacs should be prescribed your run of the mill
f1 race on a sunday afternoon, maybe going down with a beer or
two... guaranteed sleep. ;-)

Then again, all forms of *watching* motorsport seems to have
this effect on me, it's only when I race online / multiplayer
that the pieces fall into place and the concept of the sport
comes alive.

Cheers,

The outer Hebrides are part of Scotland, so yes, you may stand

talking of St. Kilda ;-)

That's rich stuff...
The same could be said about British football (or soccer here).
Back-and-forth all the game, and nobody scores a single goal.

What boring football?(soccer)
american football is the worse, rude game I have ever seen!
No technique, nothing anly man against another man who is stronger win!
have you ever seen a true soccer match? it's beautiful even if there is
no goal! what's the diference between score a goal or take a pile? the
important is how the team arrived at the shoot.
technique,technique,technique against roughness,roughness,roughness

I am British and find Soccer usually boring apart from some
international games. American Football has a large amount of finesse,
both physical and intellectual, and is far more intesting to watch.

oh boy... I have been trying to stay out of this one (after my earlier post)
but I can`t resist the bait (I`m a 40+ old fart who must be feeling
particularly childish today).  American football rude?  Do you mean more so
that the rioting individuals, the beatings and the killings we hear about
after European football games?  Or do you mean: American football rules!  It
does!

And when exactly is soccer beautiful?
When they settle the 0-0 score by placing a player at 15 meters from the
goaltender who is supposed to defend an incredibly large net where his only
chance of making a save is by totally guessing on which side he will dive
and hope that the kicker happens to choose the same side?

...or when they kiss each other`s ***s after scoring a Goooooaaaaaaal! ?

...or when they trade shirts and wear each others' sweaty jerseys after the
game????

I just don`t get it... and yes, I did see a professional soccer game in
Belgium once... I will admit that the ambiance was fun (there was no riot or
*** on that day only cheers and lots of singing) but the game itself was
a sleeper (1-0 on a penalty kick).   I just don`t get it...  Hockey!  Now
that`s a SPORT!   OK, OK, now you know I am canadian eh!

On a more interesting topic, what is the sim enthusiasts' initial reaction
to just released LFS??
Andre

I'm not really a fan of American football either, just pointing out in
goes both ways.  Some of you Brits think NASCAR is boring because it goes
around in ovals (and actually, there are road courses such as Watkins Glen).
Well, you could say the same about "Football"- the ball just bounces back
and forth forever.  Hey, actually I don't watch much NASCAR and find most
racing a snooze fest after a while, but actually racing on those ovals can
be more challenging than they look.  Not every oval is shaped the same- some
are "D" shaped, some have banks and some are flat, some have short corners,
others are longer.  Add in a couple dozen other cars, and things start to
get interesting.

Our football rude?  Well, it's true more often than not the players are
just dumb, often obese, jocks, but the actual game has alot of strategy
behind it.  Also, we seem to have fewer riots after a big game.  We
certainly don't have hundreds of people been crushed under a human stampede.
