F1 2000 online

I'm trying to see if I can get F1 2000 to work over the Internet.  I
need some information.

First of all, does anyone know the ports that F1 2000 uses?  My racing
machine is on my LAN, behind a gateway machine that is connected to the
Internet via cable modem.  I assume need to map the ports for F1 2000 to
the racing computer in the gateway software, but I can't find the ports
that F1 2000 uses anywhere in its documentation.

Secondly, does anyone have any information on Web sites or other sources
for information on racing F1 2000 online?

Thanks!

Alison

There's an online ICQ active list #69384455 (F12K online) where about 50
people meet to race online. There's a post at the Highgear forum at
www.simracingnews.com on how to join this list (you need ICQ 99b). Perhaps
you can get more info over there. The game really rocks online. No slowdowns
etc.

Good luck!

BTW are you planning to release some racesetups for this game? That would be
great! I really love your GPL-setups! Thanks again!

It's nice to see the GPL-crowd is also enjoying this game!

This is actually cool!
Some of the GPL boys are switching and same for the RS2 boys over at the
forum.
Between them, some good racers!
Doh, another crappy league campaign for me:-)

I would be surprised if you can get it without calling EA's help
line. And even then I would not expect them to know.

Frankly, I would expect your site to be the premier F1 2000 online
site :-) Maybe you will get it sorted out by the end of the month when
I get my DSL and we can have a "GO" at F1 2000 online.

Today, I bought it and searched for pages. Here's the result:
www.bhmotorsports.com
www.helsinki.fi/%7Etikkaoja/f12000
home.wanadoo.nl/locutus

They have new sounds and paintjobs with tobacco and alc-advertising. Very
fast people.
But I dl it just 10 minutes ago, I didn't install it, that will happen next
15 minutes (I hope ;-)))

Let me know, if online racing may go, because ea says no, only lan-racing
over tcp/ip (but I think, then must internet work too)

Bye and many thanks for your great work on gpl, my favorit game

Last night, I ran two online sessions.  One with
Adam Zerlin, the other with someone named Andri
from Canada.  All of us are on 56K modems.

The connection to Adam was very raceable.  I
didn't check the pings before we connected.

With Andri, I checked pings right before connecting,
and it was over 500ms avg, with a max of 800 ms.
I didn't expect much.  It turned out to be playable.
Not really raceable, because his car was jumping
around a bit, but we didn't get disconnected.  I've
seen worse on NROS.

So, don't hesitate to try F12K online even if you are
stuck at 56K.

now a

When I read all of his posts, they were these funky italics type fonts.

Asking questions like this have been plonkable.

Well I was just joking :-)

*What* funky fonts?  Looked fine here...  But having different fonts is now a
'plonkable' offense?  Why?
Just curious...

Or 'snoop' on Unix systems (if your gateway is Linux for example).

Alas, my gateway is a Win98 box running Sygate.

Is there an equivalent utility for Win98?  Some way to detect the ports
being used?

You haven;'t tried calling EA tech support? I would start there
actually.
