Atlanta N2 to N3???

Atlanta N2 to N3???

by mets4 » Sat, 04 Mar 2000 04:00:00

What would I need to convert the Atlanta track from NASCAR2 to work in
NASCAR3 running under 3dfx acceleration?  I just really enjoyed racing at
Atlanta before it became a Bruton Smith cookie cutter quad-oval.  I know
what I'd have to do to my all.cal file, but what about the color palette and
the acceleration mode?

Any help from the legion of track manipulation experts out there would be
greatly appreciated.

As far as I can tell you just copy it over and run it. That's what I did, works
great.

He doesn't want to "lose" his current version of Atlanta.

make a retroatl directory in your N3 tracks directory

Copy ALL the files from the old Atlanta into the retroatl directory

unpack Atlanta.dat

rename Atlanta.* retroatl.*

edit retroatl.pck

search and replace Atlanta with retroatl

pack retroatl.pck

add the new track to your all.cal, or other calendar files if you wish.

Some files such as event*.pcx and biglogo*.pcx will need to be converted,
and resized into TGA files.

I Have to say I really enjoyed the old Atlanta more as well. It was my
favorite tracking fact, very original, now very unoriginal.

Atlanta N2 to N3???

Does anyone have N3-compatible (can handle double-file restarts) AI files
for this N2 version of Atlanta?  I like the original Atlanta as well, and
have copied it over to N3 as an additional track, but they do go a little
crazy when the green flag drops.

Also, does anybody have N3 setups for the older Atlanta track.  I've been
working on one, but I'm not too good at creating setups and while mine seems
ok, it's probably not too fast, and it doesn't seem as stable as the Ace
under N2 was.

Thanks,
Robert Rathbone
