RAS 250 at Bristol Result

Here is the result of the RAS 250 from Bristol:

1. J Pancoast
2. P Lee  -1L
3. Mitch A -6L
4. DaveGF -17L
5. Spark18 -113L
6. ZZ Busch -134L
7. J Simmons -203L
8. Gary Stephenson -213L
9. Eldred Pickett -223L

The race was decided in the middle stint.  I pushed my tyres too hard and
was the first of the leaders to pit.  I lost a couple of laps in the pits.
John pitted a few laps later and took advantage of this to gain a 10 second
lead.  He extended this further, managing to put a lap on me.  After that I
conserved my tyres in the run home to hold on to 2nd spot.

Congrats on the win John, and on the good race to all who ran!

In retrospect I still congratulate myself on the wisdom to not start in this
one though - 250 laps at Bristol, you guys are simply amazing!! :-) DGF,
Spark and Mitch even ran the WG race with me afterwards. Thanks for that
guys!

Nice race guys. BTW, motion sickness pills really work well for that track.
:-) Couldn't get past 50 laps all week without feeling dizzy until I tried
those little pills. They give a nice buzz too. :-)

What happened to everyone who was supposed to race today?

My Bristol race was decided before it began. I couldn't get to the track
after warm up. The start button wouldn't turn green. I ended up frantically
going to my options screen and then back and found the button had finally
changed. "Sparks" and I started from the pits and then I broke the pit lane
speed limit. Anyone ever had this happen?

At around lap 50 Mitch and I came together and I hit the wall causing
damage. Couldn't get the car into the 16's again after that.

I said I wasn't tired because I thought you had run the Bristol race too and
I didn't want to seem wimpy. :-)

You were flying around that track. 1:15's and 16's. I picked up some
pointers from you though.

RAS 250 at Bristol Result

"David G Fisher"  wrote...

What happened was I logged on at 4pm EST (10PM CET) and no server showed.
Waited 15 mins and started something else.

I don't know where people get the impression my life revolves around
simracing. Although it does in certain ways and I am in the fortunate
position to give it more attention than most are able to, it still needs
scheduled around my real life activities. Or, when possible, real life
activities around simracing. Either way I'm bound to a schedule.

As things are quite hectic for me at the moment, I can not sit idle for more
than 15 mins waiting for a race to materialize. It also means that if a race
falls through, I have a more than ample backlog of other hobby activities to
get on with. Sorry.

Bit of a pity as I did fancy my consistency showing at the Glen (even if 25
laps is a little short for that).

Oh well, there's always next time (I hope).

Well, THAT was f'king ridiculous...  I got lapped by lap 15, I was WAY off the
pace.  Second time the leaders came by, I let them by again by going high.  I
got up into the wall, and the car slowed drastically on the next straight.  I
figured I'd damaged the car when I hit the wall.  Before I could react, a car
coming up behind me hit me at probably 40MPH speed difference.  After I stopped
spinning, I realized that I'd gotten caught by the wall bug.  I don't know how
many cars were involved in the wreck, but it pissed me off that it was my
fault.  I ended up quitting in disgust.  Sorry again, guys... :(
I didn't run WG because I can't finish a lap without going off track or
spinning.  My best lap in a run of about 10 laps was only a 1:23.  Argh...

Thats not a BUG Eldred but a feature.  Don't feel too bad about THe
glenn...I spent an hour or so this morning with the fast setup and barely
got into the 1:21 range.  (I think there must be a shortcut we are missing
or something like that.)

I'd been suffering with the flu for the past couple days so I wasn't
sure if I'd be up to it or not.  I tried the practice session, but my
performance wasn't up to snuff.  Rather than take somebody out, I opted
to wait for another day.  Kinda disappointing but what can you do?

I would've been able to do the whole distance, but didn't realize until I
got into it that it was 250 laps.
1 1/2 - 2 hours.
My girlfriend wasn't to pleased. I had to quit. Next time I'll make sure to
allocate more time.

John, sorry about the T-bone, but you got tapped and turned and came right
across in front of me. I had no time to miss you.

Hi Blake,

I'd done a 75 lapper at Bristol recently and noticed a certain amount of
'having had enough' after that already <g>. Therefor I thought that 250 laps
would be well over my head (and neck <g>)

Yes, this was really sneaky of me to do the Bristol practice and then
silently drop out ;-)

It's a pity John Simmons left before the race, every single additional car
would have been more than welcome with such an already small field.
