From VROC or when I am just online I hear my Rockwell V.90 go clik at
the end of the splash screen when ever GPL boots. I can still see the
host on the multiplayer screen but the network times out and closes
when I try to join the race. When I return to windows the online icon
indicates that I am still online however I am unable to connect to
anything...VROC....Web Pages...or anything. I have to disconnect and
then reboot to connect again.
Any ideas??

Never mind I figgered it out

in apps.ini
[ Communications ]
disableDirectConnect = 0 ; Disable Direct Connect
I changed the 0 to a 1
presto it worked

Thank you for posting this. Noone ever told me why i cant play online. My
modem always disconnects

I knew I couldn't be the only one with this problem. I am sure the
GPL guys had a good reason to have the program install this way. I was
about to re-install my modem thinking it was an IRQ conflict or
something.

What? Maybe that's why my work machine would sometimes dump the race as the
server. I *do* have a modem in it. If someone called while a race was
running, could it drop everybody out?
Or would that parameter disable network TCP/IP also?

I never used direct connect...only internet...maybe your directconnect
option is set to 1 and should be at 0. That would explain why the
option was there.
