I changed the 0 to a 1
presto it worked

Put your message in a modem, and throw it in the ***-sea...
remove SPAM-OFF to reply.
I never used direct connect...only internet...maybe your directconnect
option is set to 1 and should be at 0. That would explain why the
option was there.
