Hi folks

once upon a time I had a

Abit KT7A RAID
Duron 800
Geforce 2MX
SB Live Value

and GPL played like a dream.

Put in a Athlon XP1700 today, and have the dreaded stutters, esp. when
2/3 cars following closely.

So the problems is due the CPU upgrade - anyone else experience it -
and any answers - BTW have looked at SB Live drivers, VIA 4-in1
drivers with little success.

I have the same problem KG7 board 1.4 TBird and the patch.

Do you have the latest BIOS for your MB? It may need it for proper XP
CPU support. You also have to reinstall the OS to get proper support
for the SSE instructions on the newer XP CPU. I managed to accomplish
this with an upgrade install of 98SE over the existing install on my
98 *** system, but it was a bit of a mess - I'd recommend a full
reinstall if you don't have nearly 100 games like I do ;).

Same problem here, XP1700+
I have the patch.

The only thing that makes it fluid is to set the sound acceleration to off.
There must be something weird about the sound-system in GPL.

I think it`s the SB Live card, I have the same problem with ABIT KR7A-R
XP1600 and a SB Live card.

I have similar stuttering and I have identified that my problem is
caused by msff wheel with usb connector. There is something weird
about usb msff and gpl when using force feedback. Always enormous
stuttering if there's more than 3 cars at the same time on screen.

But if I configure force feedback off from core.ini, the stuttering
is gone immediately! I can race full grid without any problems...

And this is for off-line races only, on-line races don't have any
stuttering even with force feedback configured on.

What cards do you consider "GPL safe"?

on a side note, I did my self had a live card and had the same from time to
time when I run GPL on every thing ells that win blows 98 , but after a
audegy card got into the play it all dissapeard :)

I had a Fortisimo II and it locked up GPL after 2 or 3 laps. Went back to my
Sb Live.

I heard allot of good stories of GPL and fortismo 2 , on contrary to the sb
live card :)
