GPL: stuttering problems with new system

hi all

ive just been forced to upgrade motherboard, cpu,os, and 3d card.  gpl
and me are very very very happy with the new setup!

but...

running gpl it suffers from stuttering.  it'll occasionally pause for
upto .5 sec, and then catch up instantly.  happens max. once in 2
mins.  i saw some mention here of a win prog to kill all hidden
unnecessary processes before starting gpl.  will that help?  can
someone point me to it, or could the problem be something else?

1300 athlon, geforce2mx, win98, gpl with d3d patch, offline.

martin.

What sound card do you have.....I had a similar problem and it was the sound
card drivers.  Mine is a Yamaha based card (Guillemot Fortissimo) - the
yamaha drivers sorted it.

Good luck
Ash
