GPL: New motherboard, CPU,............no GPL

by Rand » Sun, 14 Mar 1999 04:00:00

I just upgraded my system with dreams of impoving my framerate enough
to play on VROC. I now have a Abit BX6v2 motherboard with a Celeron
300a OC'd to 450. When I start GPL I have no mouse pointer and cannot
navigate the screens, although I can use the escape key to back out to
the desktop, but then Win95 will be frozen and I have to Ctrl-Alt-Del
to reboot. I have a Monster Voodoo II and a Kensington trackball from
my old setup installed.  I have tried DirectX 6.0, 6.1, the Diamond
drivers (old & new), and the 3DFX reference drivers.  All with
glide2x.dll from the 2.53 version of Glide in my GPL directory without
success. Anybody have any suggestions, I miss my Lotus.

Thanks,
Randy

See if loading a standard mouse driver instead of the Kensington gets
it going for you.

geez....try installing the game again with a full install...maybe the cd
access somehow boots you...i dunno...a full install wont need to access
the cd...it's worth a shot....and good luck.

My guess is that you simply replaced your motherboard and re-used your
old hard drive (with the old windows installation on it).  While this
should be fine most of the time, sometimes it isn't.  I've NEVER been
able to get away with that personally.  I've always had to reinstall
Windows to get it to work right.

If nothing else fixes the problem, you might want to do this.

also some peripheral INI files sometimes need tweaking.....on my mouse in
it's INI file I've had to replace the word software with the word hardware
after one of the required input settings. This may also be the case with
your peripheral as well.
