in the MAY issue of the SCCA's Sports Car magazine on page14 is an
article talking about the SCCA getting involved in Motor sport
Simulations.  I haven't finished reading the article yet but there is a
web page to go to to read up on it...

Yes I heard about that.  I'm really looking forward to the game since my dad
races one of the classes that will probably be made!  And I will be racing
in that same class next year!

We are e***d about working with the SCCA too.
Dennis Dean (an SCCA Vice President) was here this
week for meetings and stayed over an extra day to
give us background and start lining up technical
sources for our first SCCA sim.

That's one of the really neat things about SCCA racing -
how accessible it is.      http://www.racesimcentral.net/

Matthew,

I would like to wish you well with the production of an SCCA sim.   Im a former
SCCA racer whos home track was Watkins Glen.   I raced mostly Spec Racers (Was
Sports Renault <G>) and Sports 2000 but had a little experience with GT1.   I hope
to one day return to racing.  Im an old man at 28 and hope my wife will tolerate
my return to racing by the time Im 35 ;)

I look forward to hearing more about the sim as you progress with its development.

Again... best of luck!

Does this mean there is a chance that we might see a Can-Am sim
sometime in the future?

Well it sounds like we may be able to drive a Ferrari 333sp or a Riley and
Scott chassis some time in the future.  Also we may be able to drive some
unknown cars like bobsys AMACs and other small bore Sports Racers.  I think
that is kinda neat since I have spend a lot of time around these neat
little machines.

Well, I'm 37 and never really thought about racing...
except when our SCCA visitor walked up to my car and
said something offhand like "Is that the all wheel drive version
of the Eagle Talon? A lot of them racing..."   -   An evil evil man ;)

This sounds great! I use some of the current racing sims to refresh my memory before I go to a track for an SCCA event such as Sears
Point, Laguna Seca, Mid-Ohio, however these are only the tracks that are in the sims with Pro racing cars. It would be great to race
on the smaller club racing tracks and cars that I am more use to driving such as D Sport Racer.
http://insideracingtechnology.com/dsr1.htm
Most SCCA races are with several classes mixed together in one group. Will all the classes be in the sim and will they be in
separate groups or mixed together?

ROFL

Especially in Solo.  Ive seen EVERYTHING race in solo.   Although I never ran in a
solo event or had much interest in solo racing,  it gives alot of people the chance
to get out there and experience high performance driving.

No No NO!  Not plain ordinary Ferrari's or Can Am cars... Imagine if you
will,
An SCCA runoff sim.  a bazillion classes of cars all racing at Mid Ohio.
Just
imagine your day spent with a howling pack of 40-50 NEONS!    Sure sure you
can drool over your Riley and Scott's but imagine...one track.  One weekend
of
racing...and 40-50 NEONS!

Well that would be wild. 40 Neons all howling around a track bump drafting
and squeezing eachother for position.  Well the only problem i could see
with this is all the guys complaining about the accidents in GPL.  well in
showroom stock it is almost a fact of life you get bumped around a bit
during a race.

Solo ll is a very different animal.  It is kinda like single car qualifing
without ever practising the track.  You get to walk the course, then get in
your car and push it to the limit and hold there for the entire course.
Wins are measured int hundreths of a second, and anyone winning by a second
is in another time zone.  If you ever see a guy who can really make a car
run well in Solo ll let him try a real race track.  What you will see is a
guy who can really hold car on the edge a whole lap and run that lap after
lap.  Most really fast Solo ll guys I have seen do very well in road
racing. Jeff Altenburg is on who ran Solo ll for years and after I think
one season in Road Racing won SSA at the SCCA national runoffs.  I guess
its true that Solo ll drivers go in deeper and come out harder, of corners
that is.
