T2 and NFS SE

My friend has a TM T2 and he has some problem calibrating is wheel
when playing games like The Need For Speed SE.

He told me that everytime he load the game he is asked to re-calibrate
the wheel.  In the manual it is stipulated that you just have to
calibrate it once.  Then the game will not ask for a calibration
everytime.

I told him it was because he was plugging is T2 in his Sound Blaster
16 and he told me I was clueless.

Wouldn't it be better, and wouldn't it clear all his problems if he
used a dedicated gameport like the CH GameCard3 Automatic or the TM
ACM GameCard?

Thanks for your attention!

Mine does the same thing through my Ensoniq soundscape.  The game asks
for calibration every time I restart the game.  Not a big deal to me,
just means I will have a good wheel setup every time!!!

T2 and NFS SE

I saw the question posted a week or so ago but no answers.

Why doesn't my T2 and pedals work with NFS SE.

I'm running NFS SE under windows 95 using the adaptor that came with the
T2.

windows 95 calibrates the wheel fine and it works under win 95 with
rally championship.

NFS SE pops up a gear selection joystick calibration utility, this I
work my way through and statup the game. However then the game refuses
sensible input from keyboard and mouse and I can get into a single
player game as keyboard or mouse just seem to change the shape of the
cursor.

I have the same strange thing happen with my joystick in NFS SE.  It
calibrates fine, but when I'm in the game, it recognizes only
side-to-side movement, but not up and down.  I've resorted to
accelerating and braking with the mouse and steering with the
joystick.  My solution to you would be to reinstall the game in DOS
and try it that way.  That seemed to work with NASCAR.

I have the same problem in NFS SE with my Thrustmaster GP1.
It calibrates fine but then playing the game you cannot accelerate or
break (up or down on your joystick).
Has anyone a cure for this ?

You must install the T2 (and possibly the GP1, but I don't have that)
with the additional two-inch black connector that came with the unit.

Hope you saved all your connectors.

Get the  ACM Game Card . I speak from  my own experiance.
Also disable gameport on sound card . Then the only time
it asked for a recalibration was if I had  swapped a flightstick
to do some flying, and then swapped back.

Concerning having to recalibrate the T2 wheel every time for NFS SE there
is a utility on the CD for calibrating different joysticks, including the
T2. No more re-calibrating. Hope this helps you out.

It works with my T2 and NFSSE.
Here is what I did:
1. The short axis adapter is used between T2 and gameport
2. Win95 joystick installation + calibration + test
(specify the correct model:  T2 has 2 axes + 2 or 4 buttons)
3. When installing or starting NFSSE set options to use joystick
   (instead of the keyboard keys)
4. I must do NFSSE joystick calibration always when NFSSE starts
5. Carefully do the calibration (fully turn wheel into the directions)
or the car is not drivable
6. If startup calibration does not work and menues are not controllable
any more then press TAB while walking through the menu. Go directly
to option joystick calibration and repeat it better this time or exit
   program.

Where on the disk is this utility?  I've looked in all the Dir's and
can't find it.  Thanks

The only joystick utility that I found on CD is jcu.exe
It lets me define that I use T2 and which buttons, axes.
It also remembers this info, but it didn't help with the
joystick calibration under Win95.

Is this the utility that you mean?
Could you please explain exactlier what you have done to solve
the calibration?
