To quote:

"According to the publisher, Richard Burns Rally is the most realistic
rally sim to date in terms of car handling, physics, and graphics.
Unfortunately, after playing this demo, I must report that this is not
the case at all. Colin Mcrae Rally 2004 or the recently released 2005
are both superior in terms of handling and physics, while the graphics
are equally as good when comparing the two franchises."

Couldn't agree more.

Well for one, the guy reviews the demo, not the game.

But his main complaint regarding the physics seems to be that the cars
understeer when he brakes while steering, and that IMO shows that he
isn't really knowledgeable about racing cars or racing sims.

Because one single look into the garage settings would have told him
that perhaps the brake balance is set too much to the front, and that
all he needs to do to cure his main gripe is to reduce the maximum front
braking force from the original value (I think it's 6000 in the game) to
something like 4500, and the car's behaviour under braking changes
drastically.

Please get me right, I'm not saying RBR's physics are super-duper, but
basing such criticism on the gripe he bases it on is simply ignorant, as
it's purely a matter of car setup.

LOL!!!!!

I think this sentence sums it up:
"The steering tends to oversteer when you first tap left or right"

"Tap" left or right......?

Now I've never played the full release or the demo, but how can you
comment on the realism of car handling in -any- game / sim* (*delete as
appropriate) when playing with a joypad?

Renders the opinion invalid IMO.

Ok, now I'm offended. While I enjoy RBR, I do ride a bicycle to work (which
sane person would bother using a car to travel 3.56km?).

Yeah, he may not know a cars can be set up, maybe even didn't notice the
cars setup.

Raise the front diff torque and 50% of understeer is gone.
It sure oversteer exiting corner if you slam the throttle...

This is a joke right? This guy reviewing RBR demo seems to have been too
busy giving lip service to the boys at Codemasters to give an honest review.

i especially like:

"The car handling is just not as realistic... The cars don't seem to want to
turn when you are braking at the same time."

Maybe Richard Manley (the author) should have the bits of RBR that he's
missing, explained to him.

I hate to burst your bubble but Codemaster admit their game is not as realistic as RBR.

Nice try at winding people up though.

Yes, NOW the review is decent. Its been changed.

"According to the publisher, Richard Burns Rally is the most realistic
rally sim to date in terms of car handling, physics, and graphics. This
may well be the case if this demo is anything to go by. The learning
curve is a little steep coming off the Colin Mcrae series, which is
substantially easier and less realistic, but that's what makes this sim
so great!"
