Are the online speeds slower or something.  You speak as though 198-200 is
running too fast.  I readily got 202 in N2 at tally with no drafting.  I
haven't tried Tally on N3 yet, but I watched a reply of the designers racing
in multi, and they hit 200-201..

I confused??

Ok....what's the deal with these 198-200mph qual speeds at Tally?

Restrictor plates coming off en-mass?

If so....let's all play by the same rules.  Would someone who knows how to alter
the track.ini files (if that's correct) at Tally ......and who has a sense of
fair play......please post how to do this below....so we can "equalize" the

It would be appreciated.

P.S.  My N2 Talladega setup doesn't even reach a speed in excess of 189mph
anywhere on the track...even top speed entering T3.  What is up with that?  That
car was good for 195-196 mph solo....and 198mph drafting.....not awesome I
know...but competitive at least.

Shannon...

I'm not talking about "top speed"....I'm talking about Avg lap speed.......

I never saw avg lap speed on TEN in the 198mph-200mph range for qualifying
(unless of course I was using the now famous "Huggins
Cheat"....lol......).............and rarely during racing...even in the draft
(unless air temps were lowered to 40 degrees).  I didn't do all the much racing
at Tally...except in leagues.....but I don't think I'm to far off on this?

Tom,

From my understanding it is an "even" playing field due to the fact that the host
dictates whether or not the restrictor plate is on or off.

So whoever joins that host will be racing under the same circumstances.  Although,
not uniform across the board.

I thought the same thing Tom but by just tweaking the Qual setup a bit
last night I was able to hit 197's. Odd thing is if one takes a clock
and measures the speed/time at that speed factor it doesn't compute
to those averages. Something screwed up there I think. I was hitting
207 down the backstretch last night in a draft at 8100 rpm, 4th was
3:20.

My record Talledega online lap is 401.189 mph! I didn't notice any
warping but it must have occurred.

When online racing, I just use the default Ace and Qual setups, and I'm
consistently hitting 197-199, and even one 200 laps without draft, in
qualifying.....once into draft, i think I even had a 201 once. I'm using N3
straight out of the box, not edits or anything.

You can run 198-200 qual laps just by using the stock Qual setup that came
with N3. Just scrub your tires like hell on the first lap,and stay low!

Im under the impression that you just have to find a fast setup.  Hitting 200
MPH average isnt uncommon in N3 as ive done solo laps in the 199 range in only
one day of driving N3.  In the race i had last night against AI at Tally i ran
a 201.xxx with the draft.  Its just that the track is faster in N3 then N2/99.

Default QUAL setup, no changes at all, I'm already at 198 on almost every lap I
run with it, and I've had a 202.xxx mph lap in the draft against the AI cars.
Talladega is just plain FAST on N3!

Gentlemen, this is all great and everything, lots of speed;  ugh ugh urrrrrr
ugh!!!  Now lets look at an actual (real-time) qualifying session.  Top speeds
on a good day 195mph, John Andretti in fall of '96 I believe.  I think we need
someone to fix the track and make it more accurate by slowing the track down.
Hence the name of the game, racing SIMULATION.  I know the track gurus out
there can fix this to make it RIGHT.  Sounds like the right move to me.

Y'all race some for me, I have another two months before I can play N3, once I
get back in the states.

Tom, I can easily qualify in the 199's using the stock qualifying setup and
running the same line I did in N2.
No gimmicks, just faster speeds in N3.

Actually, I'm seeing 198 qual times with the plate on!

Tally is much, much different in N3 than N2/NROS.  For one, none of my very
good setups are worth a shit.

During Qual?

No way.  None.  Not possible.  Not with the plate on.

Ran my 1st Nascar3 online race last night at Atlanta.  The nascar lap record
was listed as 196.xxx,but I ran a fast lap of 296.xxx. Others after the race
reported the samething. What gives with these unrealistic speeds.

Is it possible that the version you have and the online version are
different? I know if the 2 tracks are differing versions the lap times
will be way off.
