newbie races on VROC

by Tim Leighto » Thu, 11 Mar 1999 04:00:00

Some one was asking about where they could find races for newcomers and
'those of more modest abilities'. They got some sensible advice from the
likes of Dave Schwabe and Jesse to get stuck in, drive sensibly and enjoy.
I had my first day online with VROC yesterday and despite having flu and
driving appallingly most of the time I had a ball.
Anyways about, I hosted a few novice level races and it seemed to work well
. I would like to say that I intend to host quite a few of these this month
at Monza, Glen, and Zandvoort, and that new racers are especially welcome to
any race hosted by T.Leighton. That way I might even win!  :-)
I have an ISDN connection (BT Highway) and when hosting would like to know
my ping times to various parts of the world. If anyone notices what VROC is
reporting them as, please let me know.
Thanks
Tim

On a related note, here's a VROC "newbie" question I've been wondering.
Is there any way I can fully participate in the practice session and still
volunteer to start from the back of the grid?  That is, assuming I don't
qualify last anyway. :-)

In a way, yes.  If you don't hit the green button while the race countdown
is on, you will automatically enter race mode, but start from pit road.
