Vroc Help: Kicked back to vroc from GPL main menu

by ralph hartm » Fri, 27 Aug 1999 04:00:00

All,
I have been trying to use vroc since the patch without success. I
applied the patch to a fresh install and received confirmation that it
took ok.  The sim plays fine in stand alone mode, I'm using a 3dfx
voodoo3 2000 card.  The problem is when I click on a race in vroc to
enter (I've tried many different ones). It starts GPL, shows the
opening screen then flashes the main menu and immediately returns to
vroc java applet without going to a track. I have installed graphic
updates to the tracks and added Brands.  I looked at the vroc sites to
see if I could find a solution to no avail.  Can anyone help here?

Thanks

Ralph

Do you have a cable modem, and could you possibly no longer have your
core.ini, which might have had alternate_ip_addr_lookup=1?

Randy,
I had a core.ini renamed from the example. No cable modem and the
alt ip =0 .  I use a USB modem. I read at Alison's site that I could
run without a core.ini at all so I cut it out of the gpl directory and
moved it elsewhere.  I was then able to connect ok without the
core.ini. I guess I will read more about what I might need for a
core.ini but don't have FF or cable modem so I suspect just a minimal
set of parms will do.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Regards,

Ralph
