GPL VROC Hosting : Please Help!

by Roy Berub » Wed, 25 Nov 1998 04:00:00

I'm completely hooked on GPL and the VROC site is great. But I can't
seem to get hosting to work. Joining a multiplayer game is no problem,
but for some reason when I try to host, nobody has ever got connected to
my machine.

 I have a p2-333(overclocked to 360), ADSL with a constant IP address,
and a Voodoo2 card. Netscape 4.5, windows 98, GPL full install.

What am i overlooking , any ideas?

I've seen you on line and it seems that you haven't set up the VROC site
properly. Did you fill out your details through the page provided? All the
information about your races is just dashes and we can't connect to you.

Hope that helps,

Darren

Ps I've seen this a lot recently.

I don't know if this really applies to your situation, since you have a
static IP address, but it's worth a try.  Try adding the following to
your core.ini file in your GPL directory:

[Communications]
alternate_ip_addr_lookup = 1

It would appear that VROC is launching your GPL session, but is not
getting the correct IP address for some reason.

On a semi-related note...

If you're running a server through a Linux gateway, VROC sees your
internal IP, and NOT the one that is needed for users to connect to your
server.  I had to fill in the IP override field in the VROC setup.
