If I burn my main GPL folder and subfolders to a CDR is that all
that's need to create a working backup copy? Can I restore this copy
and then just run the GPL.exe for it to work or does it do some
registry lookup or something like that?

Hi,

Nope, I don't think there are any registry entries.  I just copy the folder
onto computer and run the .exe

OK, thx. That helps a lot as then I don't have to go through the
add-on dance each time I install it.

Zip it first!
Otherwise all the files will be write protected. If you stick it in a
zip file and burn that, they won't be.

Yo,

Not sure about this, but I seem to have to at least run the GPL install,
then I delete the sierra/gpl dir and then unarchive my working copy-backup
that I have zipped onto a CDR.

Im just saying this in case you get to that part where your redoing the PC
like after "fresh install" it has worked well for me.

Ok, thx. One could do that too but it doesn't sound like it is
necessary.

Yea, I already thought of that, thx. But alternately you could restore
the backup even if it's not zipped first and right click the main
folder and uncheck readonly and apply.

You know there's probably quite a market for copies of a fully patched and
enhanced GPL install. As it happens I'm about to start re-installing GPL
from scratch and was looking at what enhancements are needed. Any chance of
a copy? And before anyone asks yes I have a fully paid for original copy of
GPL, the UK one that has 93% from PC Gamer on the front dated October 1998.

Andi.
