If (and it's a BIG if) EA can do a decent job with F1 2000, then as far
as I can remember this will be the first time that an F1 sim has come
out in time to be in synch with the real season -- all the correct
drivers, teams, liveries, tracks, etc. (including Indy??). That will be
a big plus, as I'd really enjoy "playing along with" the upcoming
season. OTOH, I wonder what they will do about the relative team
merits, since the cars & engines are a big unknown before the season
starts. Another big question: will we see "Driver X" in a BAR, or will
his real identity be known :^)?

I'm already getting pumped for the 2000 F1 season. I've been mainly one
of the Ferrari "tifosi" for the past few years, but this year I've got
a few others to cheer for. I ride a BMW m/c, so I should be pulling for
Williams; Jaguar has a great-looking car in British green; I like Eddie
Jordan's team and HHF in general; and I've always liked Honda's engine
technology (BAR).

In any case, if GP3 comes out AFTER F1 2000, and with '99 season cars,
it might appear to be a bit behind the times.

Hmmm............ GP3 won't have the '99 season cars and drivers, but the '98
season.  I believe there will be updates though soon after, then again, I
don't think anybody actually expected to wait this long (and probarbly
longer) for GP3.  Actually I'm getting a bit sick and tired of the whole
thing, I loved GP2 and I'm sure GP3 will be just as good.  It's just that
Geoff Crammond seemed a bit arrogant in the recent interview.  He could have
done more to acknowledge the people who have been building carsets, tracks
etc.  which have kept GP2 going.  I'm sure we would have all got fed up with
it alot sooner if we hadn't had the latest cars to race with and some
exciting new tracks to try out.  Without them we might have just forgotton
who Geoff Crammond is!

GP3 will have 98 season data until someone out there finds a way to update
it ;-)

Having said that in an interview in UK pC Gamer, Crammond says he expects an
updated GPx to be released every season from now on.

I think you've got it all wrong, F1 2000 is going to be based on the '99
season, and GP3 is going to be based on the '98 season.

Jacques has finally licensed his name for the two newest F1 racing games on
the market, so EA will easily grap him, and Hasbro possibily also.  It was
some exclusivity contract he had that was impossible for him to get licensed
for other types of entertainment-based things like Formula 1 games.

Just mention us if it's sub-GPL quality or not, it will be enough Art ;)

OK, I guess I'm wrong. It would be cool to have all the tracks before the
season starts, but how are they going to make Indy realistic? I'm sure Indy
will not be accurate. Well see. I've got big hope for this sim though.

Why wouldn't the track be realistic?  That is if they can create the
other tracks correctly, why not Indy.  there are plenty of schematic
drawings available(can't spell that arc-ee-tech word) the only problem
"may" be getting the cars to follow a correct line while on track.  How
far along is the construction anyway, last fall it looked like all the
site work was done....

I'm no expert on the subject, but I think the track itself is done, I was
just wondering about all the other stuff around the track, like adverts and
stuff. I guess I'm just being picky. It really doesn't matter, as long as
the track is accurate, that will be good enough for me.
The driving lines should have been done already by computer modeling of the
track, I think the owners of the Indy track have already did this, and if EA
begged enough, I'm sure they could have gotten that info.

Art,

You might want to think about changing the comment on your site that compares
your team to Alex Zanardi - unless you want to add something about failing
miserably in F1 and being unceremoniously dumped in favor of a 20 year old
rookie. ;-)

Hey axel, about your on-line team, I've read this on your site:

"You can compare Stealth Racing to Alex Zanardi, Zanardi has dominated the
FedEx Championship, Stealth Racing has dominated many  simulation racing
series! Stealth Racing has had the #1 on theirs cars 11 times in the past 2
years!"

LOL!!
So you guys compare yourselves with Zanardi? Don't bother playing F1 2000 or
GP3 !
;-p
