Ditto. Although mine happens rarely.
This is to touch base with anybody else who might be experiencing the
same problems that I did not want to find. Some are minor. One is a
disaster.
MAJOR- When running around the track the car takes a *** jump to
the right then returns. This is intermittent. To make sure this was
not a potentiometer problem I loaded my old exe file and tested each
one 4 times. The old exe was smooth but the patched one was jerky
every time. This was easiest to see on Talladega (not a track problem)
This might vary somewhat from computer to computer but the problem is
there now with the new nascar2exe file
MINOR- The race dates are now reversed ex: 2/16/97 to 16/2/97
MINOR The patch bombs out trying to edit the Nite C***te track
The original was installed off the CD so the patch does
not like the date stamp. 11/26/96
MINOR My setup.exe has a date stamp of 11/25/96 which did not match
the dates given by papy for the 2 versions I ran both
and tested each same results
The save game worked great but with the car lurching to the right the
patch is not useable at this time
This is not to be critical but we need to bring these things to light
or were not going to get any problems fixed So save your flames for
the fireplace Some of us would like the sim to work properly
PS I have already sent this to SIERRA they have a message board,
QA dep't, and someone to address your problems to. They might be
able to help with PAPY, Who knows?? www.sierra.com
Well, it definately is not a track problem hence it happens with almost
all the tracks at some point. This problem definately needs fixing because
the game is unplayable in this state. I loaded up Michigan and was running
for about 2 laps and BOOM I do a Ricky Craven (*** jerk to the right)
and hit the retaining wall hard enough to severly damage the wheel and
bend the sheet metal. This probably would not be a big deal if damge was
turned off, although if a car was next to you it would be an instant
accident. I don't know *why* this is occuring, but it's not good. After
waiting for quite awhile for a patch....I had absolute faith it would
probably need another. Did these guys even test the patch? This bug is
too obvious. Oh well, wish I had waited to patch the game....because the
way it is now is unexceptable. Oh well, I can always *pretend* I'm
Jimmy Spencer :)

MINOR point: The readme.txt file that comes with the patch tells you to
look at the date of the setup.exe file on the CD (on your D: drive for
example), not in the nascar2 folder on your hard drive. The setup.exe in
your Nascar2 folder has the 11/25 date, but you need to look at the date
of the setup.exe file on the CD to determine which version of NASCAR2
you have so that you can pick the correct patch to download and apply.
I haven't experienced this yet on my setup, but thanks for the heads-up.
I have original NASCAR2 version 1.00 BTW. And a minimum install.
This is not to be critical, but we need to READ THE INSTRUCTIONS THAT
COME WITH A PATCH, and/or any product we purchase before we complain
about its shortcomings. For that matter, the version determination
procedure is posted plainly at Sierra's patch download page as well.
Are you using a minimum or maximum install? What is your system setup?
Maybe if we can gather enough information on this problem from people
who are experiencing it, and post it here, then we can pass it on to
Papy and or/Sierra.
Just my $0.02
Ran a 20% length race here right after installing the patch with no
problems
I ran the race mentioned above plus several practice laps at Martinsville,
Talledega, Bristol, and Atlanta, and never experienced what you did. Did
you recalibrate after installing the patch? The only problem I had was
recopying the original files over some of the edited files supplied by some
of the nice folks on this group. So far the patch works great, and I can't
wait to run my first full-length race at C***te. It may take me a month
to do it though, but what the hey? Thanks Papy, for the save game, and
now, a GREAT sim!

Why don't you just re-install the original software?

Myself and at least one other person I know also has the sudden "right
turn" blip. We experience it with direct modem as well as thru the internet
connections. The new "bump in the road" blip is ok, but I must say I don't
like the sudden right turn one. This isn't a old software problem, this is
a problem related to the new patch.
Of course the patch was tested (though to be honest some things like the
date format can go unnoticed), but I have yet to experience any jerkyness
whatsoever in the steering.

You downloaded the wrong version. There are two setup.exe files, one
from Sierra, and one from Papy. Look in the NASCAR2 dir of the CD, or
just take my word and go ahead and download the other version. I had the
same problem, and this fixed it.
