Which patch are you applying? If you are talking about 1.02 you may
need to get the other version of this patch. If you are talking about
1.03, you need to patch with 1.02 after your "re-install" before you can
use 1.03

Are you sure you have the correct version of the patch? There are
different patches because there are two versions of N2, each with a
different nchrltte file.

Hello,
I also had problems with the patches at first. Wiped out entire game
and re-installed and same thing. Check the file properties for the
problem file in the file manager. The install copies some files to the
hard drive as read-only. The patch cannot access these read-only files.
Turn off the read-only protection and try again.

If you used a MINIMUM installation, Then the .dat files from the tracks
don't get copied to your hard drive. I found this out when I tried to
install the patch with minimum install. To correct the problem, either
Reinstall N2 with a complete installation, or (like I did - it worked!)
copy the .dat files from the N2 cd of the tracks covered by the patch to
the appropriate track directory. I have no problems now.
Hope that fixes the problem!
Are you absolutely sure you have the right patch for your
version of Nascar 2. Check by looking at the date the
SETUP.EXE file on you Nascar 2 CD-ROM disc. Mine is 11/6/96
C***te data was changes for the second production run of
Nascar 2 and therefore it needs the other version patch.
Then there's the second patch to fix the first two.

I had the same problem. Copy the NCHRLTTE.DAT file into the directory you
are loading the patch from and let it update it there. Then just move the
new .DAT file back into it's correct directory, overwriting the old
version. It works like a charm.
Steve
Also make sure you have the right patch

That part of the patch only works on full install of the game. If you
didnt do a full
install some parts of the patch wont work. Its no big deal though, the
game will still work fine, you just wont have an updated c***te track
