TNT or Banshee or Voodoo 2

For an older system, running a 166 MMX, 64 MB ram with Voodoo 1 card, what is
the best option for upgrading the video card:  TNT, Banshee or Voodoo 2???
Especially for MGPRS2 and GPL!!

Definitely knock TNT off of the list.  Not enough CPU horsepower.  This
leaves the Banshee and the V2.  The V2 won't realize it's full potential
with the 166 either, but you will have the same frame rates (plus or minus a
few fps) running at 800x600 as you do running at 640x480.  This is roughly
true for the Banshee.  Given the price difference, I'd vote for a cheap
Banshee in this scenario.  While you didn't ask, I'd like to suggest using
the video card money towards the purchase of a new mobo, cpu, and ram
instead.  You may find that real soon now the 166 doesn't cut it -
regardless of video card.

You might find that the P166MMX is what holds you back. Getting a V2
wont help much as the CPU wont be able to push enough info to max it
out (very few CPUs can anyway).
You will get a better image with TNT, but to play at high resolutions,
you need a fast processor.
I would save your money and buy a faster processor like a Celeron 400,
and then see how you go. Then maybe go for a Riva TNT.

Well defintely not the TNT, this card willonly run OK on high spec
machines, I guess the banshee would be a nice option.

I'll agree here.  If you are really strapped for cash, get a Abit BH6 or
BX6 and a Celeron 300a (if you can find one), then overclock the 300a to
450.  Then start saving again and wait for the TNT2 to come out, as this
will be a very fast 3d as well as 2d card.

TNT or Banshee or Voodoo 2

Forget the TNT for MGPRS2. I cannot get mine to work with this game. I have
a Voodoo2 also, and it works great with both MGPRS2 and GPL.
I'm not sure about the banshee.
But a 166 MMX is not fast enough for a good frame rate with either of these
games, espically MGPRS2.
